Hi Everybody..
      Been thinking and planning setting up a garden in this wide open field I live in..one that will attract wildlife and also our native butterflies to the area.  We have many butterflies passing through already but want to see more, and perhaps they will stay in the area to reproduce if I provide them a place.  I ran across this film on the native butterflies of Florida...A lot of these pass through during the year... hope you enjoy it!!  GB

Merry Christmas Everyone

To Everyone on earth I wish you a very Merry Christmas. During very rough times on earth, we should all join together in love for one another. Try to stop the violence which seems to be mounting around us, and strive to have peace in our hearts and spirits. So much has transpired lately with earthly disasters and disasters created by humans... some so hard to understand, and some we may never be able to grasp. My heart goes out to those who lost their children in the Sandy Hook Elementary School killings, so many young lives who will be missed greatly. It is far to hard at this time to even begin to understand why or even that this could have happened at all...I truly believe those little children are now in Gods loving arms.. where nothing or anyone can hurt them again...To the parents of these lovely children.. I send you hugs and blessings..that your hearts not harden but can still love and that you will heal in time.. never forgetting but being able to go on until you see your children again. I pray to God for peace and love to fill your hearts..it will take time. Floods In Florida

The lady who lives or lived here had a stroke one week before the flood and knew nothing of it while she was recovering in the nursing home, her husband stayed with her there

Due to tropical storm Debbie many states have had problems, and Florida has had its share of high waters.  We moved to the country about a year ago, near Jacksonville Florida, and its relatively flat ground out here not very hilly, with beautiful pastures and lands.  We never thought we would see what we saw this year.  Tropical storm Debbie dumped tons of water here and surrounding areas making for a flood condition they called the 100 year flood, meaning this  has not been seen in over a century in this area.  Homes were under water,  vehicles and even bridges, and the bridges the withstood the flood waters most were underwater, some were washed away.  I will try to get some photos in here showing what we saw first hand during the last week or so.  God bless and help those whom have lost homes and other property.
 

This home was raised about 8 feet off the ground.
The man who lives here a few yrs ago lost his wife and then a much smaller flood came.  He said he had not been able to take her things from the home, but when that flood came he thought perhaps it was Gods way of  helping decide he had to move on... he only wonders this time what plan God has for him. We were taken by boat to view this home, set way off the road, while flood waters went to the road.  Many people in the surrounding area also were under water.

I have some bird feeders out and have some messy birds visit, throwing seed everywhere and these flowers are a result of those messy birds.... A Thank You to them!

A Flower For You

A flower knows not of its beauty and perhaps not of its existence.  However it has the ability of great and powerful gifts.  Gifts that only God could have made.  Gifts that can turn a frown upside down, to warm a broken heart, and the ability if one studies its beauty enough to see God.

My smallest sunflower ..... tiny yes?  I have bird feeders and some sunflower seeds dropped to the ground and a few sunflowers are growing.  This little guy was the smallest of them all... maybe a guinness world record.   Well anyways........... its a record for me!

Hummingbirds return to Florida

Its that time of year again that the hummingbird returns to Florida.  In late March and April you will begin to see them appear at your feeders so have them ready.  I make my own nectar and you can as well its very simple to make.  First off make sure your feeder is clean, you may want to rinse it out with some boiled water to make sure its clean and let it air dry in the sun for a few hours.     I only make a small amount of nectar at a time because my feeders are in the sun and it will spoil your nectar in just a few days, probably before your birds get to drink it, unless you have many of them.  I take a sauce pan,  1 cup of water to 1/4 cup of regular sugar, and boil it for only about a min or two, then let it sit till it cools. It will last a few days in the sun and about a week in the shade.  Try not to let it stay in the feeder any longer than that because your hummingbirds could become ill.  I will try to post some more information and photos on hummingbirds in the future!  Till then enjoy your little feathered friends......blessings

Its a New Year and I havent written in here yet!!

EKKK Hi sorry I havent written in a while been very busy getting ready for the summer. Living out here in the country takes a lot of work lol. I've almost had a blank canvas to work with so lots to do! I took advantage of the winter months here in Florida to prepare the ground for planting and actually planting some things along the way. Will show some photos along the way but will be a while before I do that. I hope everyone had a very wonderful holiday season this last year and that your New Year resolution, ( if you had one) comes true for you! God Bless and hope to get back on here more often ..
